“I’ve got your statement. He said no charges will be brought up against you. A word of advice. I know you were trying to protect yourself, nothing wrong with that, but next time, let us handle it.” He smiles and I only nod back.

Knox finally notices the asshat, who’s now standing up a little better as the officer cuffs him and starts leading him to his police car. He starts to walk towards them, but I stop him with my hand grasping his upper arm. His head snaps to me, anger now marring his handsome face. “Let me go, Jade,” he snarls through gritted teeth.

Emerson walks up with Ralph, who I didn’t even know was here, and stands in front of us. His arms crossed over his beefy chest. Knox looks at them and sighs, then looks back at me. “We’re going home. Emerson, take Jade’s car home. Ralph, drive us home. You can pick up the other cars later.” He takes my hand and before I can speak, he’s leading me to the SUV, and I’m being shoved into the back seat. Ralph is quickly in the driver’s seat, and as we pull away a dark tinted partition slides up and clicks as Knox pushes me roughly down onto the seat, his body completely over mine, his fingers in my hair and his mouth on mine so fast I barely blinked. “God. I was so scared, I… I thought…” His mouth presses harder on mine, his breaths coming out in short pants, but now that his fear has spoken loudly to me, my hands are all over him as I try to keep up with his frantic needs. We’re about to undress each other when Ralph’s voice rings through the speaker.

“We’re home, sir. I’ll go unlock the door.”

His lips are stuck to mine as if he didn’t hear. His hand kneads my breast while the other is stroking me through my jeans, and I swear I’m going to cum at any moment with the desire that’s raging through me. He stops long enough to undo my jeans, pulling them down along with my panties then his own and drives into me hard and fast. My climax comes quickly and so does his. We’re in the heat of a hard fuck, in a car that’s sitting in the garage, and it’s the most erotic thing I’ve ever done.

He’s laying against me, our chests rising up and down together as we try to come down from our highs. “Don’t ever leave me again. I couldn’t take it,” he breathes into my ear. I shake my head because I can’t speak, I can barely focus on anything at the moment as my eyes are clouded from the intenseness of my orgasm. Finally, he looks at me, his smile growing wider, and he kisses my swollen lips gently. “I love you so much, my Angel. Let’s get married.” I burst out laughing and he follows, but I know he’s really serious. My hands push lightly against his chest, and he relinquishes, sitting up slowly and then helping me to get redressed. I sit there, my face feeling flushed, as I watch him pull up his dress pants. He opens his door, takes my hand and helps me from the car. Once we walk off the elevator and get to the door to go inside our apartment, he pushes me against the wall, his mouth claiming mine, and I’m lost in him, once again.

I didn’t get to finish painting my room, I barely got to eat because we spent the remainder of our day together in our bed, in the shower and then on the bedroom floor. Yeah, it ended up being a very unforgettable day in many ways.

The next morning I awoke to my entire body being sore, inside and out, and I decided I need to exercise more; a lot more. Removing the covers, I make it to a sitting position, but then stop when I look down to see my knee cap is all bruised. Hell, it’s a wonder I didn’t feel that yesterday, but it’s also astonishing that I could feel anything outside of all the orgasms I had. That just reminded me of how sore my girly parts are as well. My head looks up to see Knox is standing in front of me, his gorgeous grin brightening his beautiful face, and then I notice he has an ice pack in his hand.

“When I got out of bed this morning and looked at my beautiful girl, all twisted in the sheets, I noticed your knee.” He lowers onto one knee and places the ice pack onto my swollen knee. “You really gave it to him good, huh?”

The corner of my mouth raises and I wink. “He couldn’t walk for a while.” He smirks. “Or stand upright.” I hiss as the coldness of the ice seeps into my knee.

He frowns. “I wish you’d leave the fighting up to Emerson or even Ralph but of course, they’d have to be there, wouldn’t they.” My lower lip jets out into a pout as I’m reprimanded. His body lifts enough for his mouth to reach my lip, and after he kisses me, he lowers my protruding lip with his teeth, softly. “No matter. I’m hoping you learned your lesson?” I give him a good smirk, shrugging my shoulders then smile.

“I’m thinking I need to work out more. My whole body hurts and not just from the fight yesterday.” His grin is golden, and my heart starts beating fast. “But…” Well, it didn’t take long for him to lose that smile. “I also want to take self-defense classes. Just in case you understand, not that I’ll probably ever get to be alone again.” His smile returns, but one of his eyebrows raises in contemplation.

“That’s not a bad idea, actually. But Emerson can train you in our gym. I’ll see if there is any other equipment he recommends and order it at once.” He starts to rise, but I stop him with my hand on his shoulder, his eyes finding mine in confusion.

“You have a gym here?” Busted! He stands, then sits next to me, his arm wrapping around my waist and pulls me closer.

“WE have a gym here, yes.”

“Hmmm, and you have a membership at the gym where I was working out?” His eyes grow wide and then relax as he gives me a sheepish grin. “Ah, so you were stalking me!” His body moves into me, pushing me back until I’m lying flat on the bed, my legs still hanging over the edge and the ice pack falls from my knee to the floor as he hovers over me.

“My favorite pastime but who could blame me? You’re sexy and hot as hell and once I first saw you, I knew you were mine. Now, quit fussing and let me draw you a salt bath. Your body needs to get healthy again so I can have my way with it. The sooner the better.” With that, he’s off me in a second and heading to the bathroom. I raise up on my elbows, watching his sexy ass as he walks, and again, I’m reminded what a lucky girl I am.

Damn! Sometimes I don’t know whether to hug her or be furious at her for the things she does. Then she looks at me with those sexy eyes, her pouty lips, her luscious breasts, and then I forget what I was thinking and jump her. I think we fucked hard, made love, wrestled and then fucked again so many times yesterday no wonder she’s sore all over. And don’t start me on her bruised knee. My fear? She defies me and gets killed. The only person who has ever loved me. Well, there’s Tabbie but she’s my sister for Christ’s sake. But Jade? She’s my heart, my life and I don’t want to live without her. I can’t live without her. My life would end. I’d give it up, all of it, my company, my millions, my soul; just for her to be alive and happy. But I’m afraid it’s her stubbornness, her individuality, her liveliness, that will cause something to happen to her, but I love her for those things, and I wouldn’t think of changing her. Those are some of the things that attracted me to her; drew me to her.

These are my thoughts as I run a hot bath for her, adding salts to help her aching body. “Knox?” Her sexy voice calls me back into reality and after turning the water off, I head into our bedroom to find her trying to stand, but I notice as she tries to put her weight on her leg that has the bruised knee she sits back down quickly. So I give her a sad smile and lift her into my arms, carrying her into the bathroom and set her on the counter. I help her remove her pajamas and begin kissing her neck.

“It’s really too bad you’re so sore.” Her head lulls back and to the side and she moans as I kiss her collarbone, her shoulder then back up to her neck. “Your skin is as soft as rose petals, you smell like sex and honey.” My mouth moves down until I have a nipple in my mouth, and I suck, nip, lick it and then blow on it. “You taste like heaven on my mouth and tongue and I could eat you for breakfast, lunch and dinner.”

“Ungh! Knox, you’re not helping my situation at all,” she moans as she squirms in my arms. I reluctantly rise and give her a pout. “Seriously, you’re killing me here.”<

Rolling my eyes, I remove my clothes, pick her up and set her gently in the warm water and climb in behind her, pulling her back until she’s nestled against my chest. “There now. Better?” She nods as she strokes my arm that’s laying around her waist. She moves her head up until she can look up at me and sighs. “I’m sorry I’m such a handful. I’ll really try to not be so stubborn and let you take care of me.” My eyebrow raises as I smirk. “No, really. I will. And when my knee heals I’ll let Emerson teach me self-defense and workout more so I can get a better shot at my perpetrators balls, so I don’t hurt myself.” That did it. I start tickling her waist, and she bucks so much the water sloshes out of the tub and all over the floor. “OK, OK! I give! Stop!” She giggles and snorts until I finally stop.

I kiss the top of her head as she relaxes back against me. “I want you to take care of yourself as much as I want to take care of you. Let Emerson help you and no, I don’t want you to change the way you are. You are who I fell in love with, just the way you are.” I flick her nose, and she giggles again. “But…” My face and tone turns more serious. “I want you to think smart, remembering that being with me you’re in the limelight now, nothing goes unnoticed and I hate that your past is being brought out front and center again but I can’t stop it. You will most likely be ridiculed again and for that, I’m sorry. But let’s be smarter than them, let’s not hide, instead let’s be a united front. That’s what I have Ralph and Emerson for; to protect you and myself and what we have together. Understand?”

She nods as she looks down while pulling lightly on the wet hair on my arm. “Yes, I really do.” Her eyes rise to look at me, and she smiles. “I do. I promise I’ll be smarter. This is all new to me, you know? I’m just not used to not having the freedom I’ve always had before but I’ll learn and I’ll listen to you more.” She rises slightly and kisses my lips.

“Sit up, my love. Let me wash you.” The water moves all around us as she sits up. I take the wash gel, pouring some in my hands and then lathering it up. My hands move over the soft skin on her back and then over her right shoulder, then back across and when they get to her left shoulder, I stop.

Her head turns. “What’s wrong?” My eyes stay in a stare. “Knox?”

“What… What is that?” I press against her soft skin lightly as her eyes move to where I’m touching.

“It’s just a birthmark. I’ve always hated it.” She looks back at me and shrugs.

I don’t know why I feel like I’ve seen it before, but I can’t think where. Odd. Shaking my head, I look at her and smile. “It almost looks like a small butterfly. Unique. It’s perfect, just like you.” She smiles as I lean down and kiss it softly, but I can’t shake the odd feeling I have.

Once we’re clean and we get dressed, I make her rest in a chair that I brought into her room while I finished painting it. Once done, I carry her to the couch in the living room and put in a movie for her while I clean up the mess in her room. When I get back to her, I find her asleep on the couch, so I decide to go into my office and do some work on my computer. “So many emails and so little time,” I mumble as I wade through the enormous amount in my inbox. As I scan down the list one of them catches my eye, so I open it quickly. “What in the hell?”

  MISSING: ALEX MYERS

ALEX MYERS WAS ACCUSED OF RAPE WHEN JADE MORLEY, DAUGHTER OF THE PROMINENT JUSTIN MORLEY, TESTIFIED THAT SHE WAS RAPED VIOLENTLY BY ALEX BUT DUE TO LACK OF EVIDENCE, THE CASE WAS DISMISSED. ALEX HAS BEEN MISSING FOR OVER FORTY-EIGHT HOURS AND IS BELIEVED TO HAVE BECOME A VICTIM OF SAID WRONGLY ACCUSATIONS.

IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION LEADING UP TO ALEX’S WHERABOUTS PLEASE CALL THE MISSING PERSONS HOTLINE AT…

This was six years ago. I wonder if he was ever found. I pull up the Internet and do a google search on Alex Myers. My eyes scan over various articles until they land on one that was dated a year later.

THE MYERS FAMILY ASKS THAT YOU RESPECT THEIR GRIEF AS A PRIVATE SERVICE IS BEING HELD FOR THEIR SON, ALEX. EVEN THOUGH HIS BODY HAS NEVER BEEN DISCOVERED THEY DECIDED TO LAY HIM TO REST AND TRY TO MOVE ON WITH THEIR LIVES.

Hmmm. Never found. I look at back at the email and check the address: Unknown. Odd. What are they trying to tell me? I print off the email and the article and put them in an empty folder, locking it in my desk. Then I forwarded the emails to Emerson and Ralph as a heads up, asking them to dig around more.

I bolt out of my chair when I hear Jade scream and run through the apartment until I reach the living room and stop in the entryway. My cleaning woman, Beatrice, is standing with her hand over her heart and her eyes wide in fear. Jade is sitting up on the couch with the same expression. I walk over to the couch and lean over the back, putting my hands on Jade’s shoulders as she turns her head to me. “Bea, this is Jade. She lives here now. I’m sorry I forgot to tell you.” I look down at Jade, who now has a smirk on her beautiful face. “Sorry, sweetheart. I guess I forgot to mention that Beatrice comes and cleans twice a week.” I shrug my shoulders, and she smacks my hand.

“She scared the shit out of me,” Jade whispers, but then looks at my frightened housekeeper. “I’m sorry, Beatrice. It’s lovely to meet you.” She looks back at me with a cute, little scowl on her lips.

“No, no! It’s perfectly fine. Please call me Bea.” She walks over and reaches out her hand to Jade, who looks at me and then finally back at Bea, shaking her hand. “I’ll just go and…” Bea walks out of the room to begin her cleaning, leaving me with a sleepy but angered Jade.

I walk around the couch and sit down beside her, taking one of her hands in mine. “What or who else haven’t you told me about? Sheesh, I just lost about five years of my life when she walked in. You’ve gotten me jumpy now.”

Kissing the side of her head, I give her my best apology look, but I’m not sure it’s working. “The only other person you haven’t met is the gardener but I already let him go since you wanted to start taking care of it.”

She snuggles up into my side and sighs. “Ok. Well, a little warning would have been nice. All this talk about perpetrators and self-defense has me a little jumpy now.”

I rub her arm as her face buries into my chest and her warmth envelopes me. “I’m sorry. I’ll try to remember that and give you more ample warning. Now, what do you say to some snack food and I’ll watch a movie with you.” Her eyes lift up to mine, and she smiles. “There’s my girl.” I kiss her forehead as she moves away, and I head for the kitchen to prepare a snack feast.

  CHAPTER THIRTEEN

After my horrible scare, we had a lovely day snuggling on the couch, eating our scrumptious snack food Knox prepared for us as we watched three movies. Ok, I only watched two of them before I fell asleep on his lap.

The next day my knee is feeling a little better, at least I can walk now but I kind of miss Knox carrying me around everywhere. I love being pampered and being in his arms. The paint in my room is dry, so he placed my big rug in the middle of the floor and set up my furniture where I wanted. My oversized chairs are placed so that if I look up from reading I can look out the double windows. My reading lamp is in the middle a little behind them. A small table in between and my small desk with my laptop is in front of the second window. The bookshelves I ordered should be here any minute, and I’m getting anxious to have it all finished and put away all my books. The doorbell chimes and Knox lets the delivery men in, and I supervise as they bring in the four huge shelves, telling them where to place them all and Knox supervises the men. They seem harmless to me until I notice one of them keeps looking over at me with a mean looking scowl on his face, giving me the creeps. I’m about ready to confront him when the other turns around and smiles.

“All done. Are they where you want them?” I smile back slightly and nod. “Great. Just sign here.”

Knox grabs the paperwork before I have a chance to reach out and signs it, handing it back to the man quickly. “Let me show you out,” he says gruffly and proc
eeds to follow them out of the room.

I look around at the beautiful shelves and finding the dust rag and polish. I commence in cleaning them off before I start the long process of unpacking all the boxes in here. Once cleaned I step back and admire them. Knox’s arms are soon around my waist, pulling me back against his broad chest as his lips kiss my neck. “They look great and fill the two walls nicely. Do you like them?”

I move my head back and look up at his handsome face. “I love them! Being surrounded by all my books makes me feel even more at home. Just wait until you see them all filled.” My smile is wide as he looks down at me and gives me his sexy grin. I jump as his hand smacks my bottom lightly, and he releases me.

“Well then. Get to work woman. I want you to feel comfortable in your new home and if your books is what it’ll take to get you there then get to unpacking.” He walks out of the room humming, and I look around and sigh. I guess I better get to work.

I’m exhausted by the time I place the last book on the last empty shelf and stand back. I still have tons of room for more books, and the idea enters my head about having pictures made with Knox and me to frame and set them around the room as well. I’m too tired to look through all of the memories I have in the rest of the boxes but decide to tackle one. Sitting on the floor I get comfortable and dive in. After thirty minutes, I figure out why this was such a mistake. Pictures of my parents, of me when I was a child, the happy times we used to have and some of the mementos I kept from school days. I look up and sigh when I see the other two boxes. Where am I going to put all this stuff? Opening another box I start looking at other memory items and pick up a stack of pictures and begin flipping through them. My heart stops beating when I see the next one. It’s me when I was about four, digging in the sand at the playground, my whole body dirty from head to toe, and I can’t help but smile at the memories. A tear hits the next photo as I look at the little, dirty boy next to me, his eyes staring at me and the look on his sweet, little face making me feel like I was his whole world. I wonder what ever happened to him after we moved away. I cried for nights missing him so badly, and I hated my parents for it. In my heart, I don’t think I’ve ever gotten over that.
