My Next Book Boyfriend (Book Boyfriend #1) Page 6
“Shit!”
I shut off B.O.B. and lay him gently on the rug, stand up, and turn around to sit on the toilet. “Why in the hell do you have to go to the bathroom now?” Maybe it was too much exercise. I sigh, grabbing the toilet paper and I’m quickly back on the floor with B.O.B. “Ah!” I moan incredibly loud as he takes me into another world, my back arching. “God, I needed that.” If only this was Dreamboat’s hand or his Hot Tamale that did that instead. My thoughts move to just how nimble his fingers are or just how big his Hot Tamale is. Sigh.
“Addilyn Myers.” She has a sweet smile. “Addie.”
“So, you haven’t worked in a coffee shop before but you’ve been a waitress?”
I’ve been interviewing all day. Seems a lot of people want to work here. I took Addie into the back room. I really like her. So far. Her hair is so blonde, almost white in color and lays over her shoulders just a bit. Her face is small but oval and petite like the rest of her body. She has pretty blue eyes, kind and caring. She seems – sweet. Yeah, if I hire her, I might have to watch her around Dreamboat. She’s really beautiful.
“Yes. I’ve worked as a waitress for over a year but just moved into town recently.”
I tilt my head, my curiosity taking over. Now, everyone who knows me knows I don’t have much in the way of a filter except when it comes to guys and then I’m a fumbling idiot. “You worked as a waitress for over a year and yet you want to work here? Why in the hell would you want to do that?” She laughs. Ohhh-kay.
She looks down, almost shyly, then back up at me. “Well, I’ve always wanted to work in a coffee shop and I hate to admit it….” My curiosity is now soaring. “I’m a bit of a book nerd. Romance to be exact.” My brows raise, making my glasses slide down my nose. I’m a little giddy inside as I push them back up. A woman after my own heart. “The idea of a place where people can read or work as they enjoy a great cup of coffee and something to eat, well…. It’s heaven.”
“You’re hired.” I smile.
And that started our new friendship.
However, I find it a little odd that when Dreamboat comes into the shop, her eyes sneakily move to him. Like – a lot. Hmmm.
“See you all later! Have fun tonight! And don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”
I’ve found out that that doesn’t leave much to the imagination. Addie has become a fast friend to Molly and me. She’s been great ever since I hired her. Now, after a week of her being here, it’s Friday night and I have to go out with Molly. The thing I hate more than losing to Molly, in any way, is going out to a bar. Ugh! I seriously don’t want to go. First, I hate to dress up and Molly will make me, no matter how much I protest. Second, I’m so klutzy and hate meeting guys. She says it’ll be good for me, make me stronger but I know I’ll just look stupid. Okay, more stupid.
“You are so not wearing that. Here. Let me look.”
She’s already bossing me around. I don’t see anything wrong with what I’m wearing. A t-shirt, my tight skinny low riding jeans and my flip flops seem fine and comfortable to me. After all, we all know what could happen if I wear high heels.
“Here. Put this on.”
She’s got to be kidding. I hold up the tight fitting, very low cut dress up and smirk. “Are we going for the whore look tonight?” She crosses her arms and tilts her head at me.
“I puppy watched and you promised.” Her lower lip turns up into a pout. Damn her.
“Wench,” I mumble as I walk into the bathroom.
The Hangout Drive-In turned into The Hangout bar a few years ago when it was determined that drive-ins were no longer valuable as a business. I loved that drive-in. That’s where I had my first kiss and one of the biggest times I knew just how klutzy and weird I was when it came to guys. Joey Rivers. He had amazing eyes. So, he made his move, putting his arm around me. I pretended to be cold so I snuggled into him. I thought my move was really smooth until we both turned and looked deeply into each other’s eyes. We leaned into each other, and I knew he was gonna kiss me. I remember my heart beating so fast. I brought up my right hand so I could wrap it around his neck and he surprised me by bringing up his left one. I hit his arm and down mine went, right onto his hard cock. He screamed and I jumped back. Needless to say, he still kissed me at the end of the night at the front door, but it was such a little peck I’m not sure if it really counted as a real kiss. Still, the rest of the night was good.
Looking at myself in the mirror, I smooth a finger over my lip glossed lips and sigh. “Yep. Hooker central. Here we come.” God, this is gonna be a long night.
“Slow down! You know I can barely walk in these hooker heels so there’s no way I can run in them. We’re both gonna do down ‘cos I’m taking you with me!”
We took a cab over to The Hangout because she said and I quote, ‘We’re gonna get plastered.’ She is maybe. Me? No freaking way! I can barely function as a normal, well, semi-normal person sober, there’s not a chance in hell when I’m drunk. Now, she’s pulling me toward the door, and I can hardly keep up with her fast pace. She has no problem jogging in heels.
The bar is full. Looking through the crowd I see people dancing on the wooden floor ahead, the counter is crowded to our left, and there’s no tables in between. To my right, it looks like there’s already a line to the women’s bathroom. Great. She grabs my hand and tugs me over to the bar where lines of people are stacked waiting for drinks.
“Here, little lady.” A gruff voice makes me turn my head.
“Oh!” I gasp as large hands grab my waist and hoist me up and onto a barstool.
I try to smile but I think it comes off as looking like indigestion. “Buy you ladies a drink?” He looks like he’s a little older but not bad looking, in that older rugged maybe married kind of way.
“Oh, I don’t think….”
“That would be amazing. Thank you,” Molly speaks up, winking at me. “How about a shot of tequila for each of us and a light beer?” She bats her eyes and then smacks my arm when I snicker. I look at her and mouth, “What?” and she rolls her eyes.
“Jack! Two tequila shots and two light beers for the little ladies!” the old-er guy yells over my head. “So, what’s up with you ladies tonight? Out for some fun?” He leans into me, and I scrunch my face as his liquored breath blows across my face.
“Oh, we’re just out for a nice night,” Molly replies.
Our drinks arrive and I down my shot fast, chasing it with a swig of beer. If I have to put up with this asshat, I’ll need to get at least tipsy. “Jack!” Loud guy yells over my head again, pointing at our empty shot glasses, and I give Molly an evil glare. His arm moves around me as he leans into me, and I swear I might puke. “So. What’s your name, little lady?” Oh, my God! He’s disgusting. I smile and look up at him.
“Gertrude. What’s yours?” Molly hits my arm and I almost fall off the stool but loud guy grabs my upper arms to steady me.
“Whoa there, little Gertrude. I’m not done with you yet.”
Our shots appear, and I down mine quickly then grab Molly’s right before she grabs it and down hers too. “You owe me so much for this,” I whisper, half hoping he hears me. Her mouth drops open then she gives me a smirk. A song comes on with a decent beat and I gently, sort of, push against his chest. “Sorry. C’mon sister!” I slide off the stool and grab her hand pulling her with me as I take my beer bottle. I’m not going anywhere without that. This is gonna be one helluva long night.
Chapter 6
The bar is hopping and crowded but it is almost midnight on a Friday night. This is one reason I don’t go to bars. We’ve been drinking and dancing for so long, my feet are gonna hurt so bad tomorrow. Along with my head. Ugh! Finally, a table in the corner opens up, and we quickly make our way over to it, giving a drunk guy a mean look to back off. This is ours! I’m elated to sit down. Molly
goes back out to dance, and I’m happy just to sit.
It feels like forever since she left the table. I think she must have found a hot guy and left. She left me! I’m so kicking her ass tomorrow. As soon as I’m coherent again.
Suddenly, a guy sits down, the smell of cigarettes and whiskey fumes from his mouth. I’m tipsy enough that this might just throw me over the edge. And I really don’t have that far to go now as it is. He lays his arm around the back of my chair, and I try scooting it over until he reaches down with his free hand and pulls it back.
“Fuck. You are so fine.” My eyes tear up from his breath as he leans in.
“Leave me the hell alone.” I’m in no mood. That same free hand lands on my thigh and squeezes. Great, now I’m gonna have to burn this dress since he touched it.
I manage to stand on wobbly legs and sway from my sudden movement. “Sheesh! You just can’t take a hint,” I slur. He seems to go in and out of focus and when I try to move away from his groping hands, my heel catches on the leg of the chair. I start to go down and the drunken oaf grabs my wrists. I’m stunned when, out of nowhere, a fist comes flying past me, grabbing his button down shirt, lifting him from his seat, and moving him until his body is pushed against the nearest wall, with his feet dangling. My mouth drops open as I grab ahold of the table for support. Dreamboat!
Dreamboat tilts his head to the side and sneers. “I believe the lady asked you to leave her alone.” His chest is heaving with anger, and I can tell he’s about to explode.
“I…. I was just helping her. I…. I didn’t mean anything by it.” The drunken oaf starts sputtering, his feet trying to find the ground with no luck.
Dreamboat’s upper lip turns up in a sneer and he starts to lower him. “Good. Now. Run along.” Drunken oaf starts to walk off when his feet touch the ground but Dreamboat stops him with a hand on his chest. “Remember. Always listen to a lady.” At that moment, I look down and see the ring on the drunken oaf’s finger and back at Dreamboat. Asshole. “Go home to your wife. Tell her you’re sorry and that you love her. Don’t make this mistake again,” Dreamboat says, angrily. Drunken oaf nods, shakily, and I watch him leave. Wow!
“Can’t believe she’d get me drunk then just leave me here,” I slur, almost incoherently, as I try to plop down onto the chair. Fidgety, I try to stand putting my hands on the table for leverage and only rise until my arms buckle. So, I sit back down with a thump and begin to remove my shoes. “Damn heels.”
“Time to go home.”
I look up at Dreamboat, trying to focus on him. “HT!” I smile but it quickly turns into a frown. “She left me. The wench.”
“Let’s get you home. Okay?” He’s so nice. I just stare at him, trying to keep my focus. He’s so fucking good looking. Sigh.
I nod and set my shoes on the table, fold my arms and lay my head down on them. Damn, I’m tired. I feel light. Like I’m flying. Ahhhh, a nice pillow. Thank God darkness shrouds me, and I’m so comfy and ready for a long sleep. That damn pup better not wake me up. Then again, I’m not sure I’ll hear anything tonight.
Dreams of mints and Hot Tamales swirl around in my head. Then thoughts of cigarettes and stale whiskey make something swirl around in my stomach. My eyes snap open as I sit up quickly, looking around, everything unfamiliar as I cover my mouth. Where the hell am I? My eyes land on Dreamboat. What is he doing here? Those swirling sensations in the pit of my stomach begin to intensify.
“I’m gonna be….”
He leaps into action, grabbing my arm and lifting me, jogging to another room. Please, please be a bathroom. I’m already expelling everything in my stomach by the time he gets me to a – thank the Lord, a toilet. I feel him holding my hair back but the stench that’s covering me and him is making me heave more.
“Hot Tamale. Fireball. Mint.” I feel out of sorts – delirious.
When I’m finally done, at least I think I am, he leans me back against the tub, my eyes still not focusing completely. I feel weak and lightheaded. “Here.” I look at a toothbrush, with a tiny bit of toothpaste on it and pout, pushing it away. Pursing my lips, I try not to get sick again. “It’ll make you feel better. I promise.”
I look up into his eyes and smile. “Dreamboat,” I whisper.
I finally take the toothbrush and close my eyes as I run it over my teeth. Minty. “Good girl.” He’s gone, for a moment, and then I feel something warm run across my skin. My neck. My chest and down my stomach. Opening my eyes, I watch him wash me, his hand holding a wash cloth. When his eyes make their way back up my body and look into mine, I grin.
“Are you feeling me up with that?” I giggle. He purses his lips and I can tell he’s trying not to laugh. “How’s your Hot Tamale?” He tilts his head in confusion then turns and reaches behind him, setting down the wash cloth.
“How about I get you one of my t-shirts to wear?”
I look at his chest and scrunch my nose. “Okay. But not that one. It smells,” I slur.
I look down and see that I’d expelled all over it. He stands and reaches over his shoulder, fists a bunch of his shirt and pulls it carefully over his head, laying it in the sink behind him. That has to be the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen! Now, I’m hornier than hell. My lips part as I push my legs together, feeling wetness there. “Hello, abs.” I licks my lips as the words burst from my mouth. He chuckles and bends down, placing his hands under my arms and lifts me to my feet. He’s so strong! As I begin to sway, he puts his arm around my waist, having to bend down with our height difference. I stumble out of the bathroom, with his guidance, and he helps me into the bed. I watch him walk over to a dresser and take out another t-shirt and walk back over to me.
“Do you need help?” I look up into his eyes, which are telling me he hopes I say yes. I stare at him and shake my head, then proceed to fumble with the hem of the shirt, wadding it up, trying to put it over my head, only the opening doesn’t seem wide enough. Looking through the small opening, I figure out that it’s the sleeve of the shirt. Frustrated, I blow out a huff of air. He covers his mouth, and I know he’s trying not to laugh even though through my blurriness, I can see his shoulders shaking.
“Dammit! You’d think I could at least put on a stupid shirt.”
Suddenly, his hands cover mine and I still. “Here. Let me.” I drop my hands from underneath his and let him straighten out the shirt, pulling it over my head. I push my arms through the sleeves and let out another long breath, causing my tangled hair that’s hanging over my face to rise then lay back against my skin. He sits down beside me and brushes it back with his fingers, and I look into his eyes. That feels so good. He’s so gentle. “You’re kind of a mess, Coffee Girl.” It dawns on me that I’ve never told him my name. I love his name for me so much better.
“Thank you,” I whisper and reach behind me, trying to unclasp my bra. I struggle with it. Stupid fingers! Finally, I manage to get it undone, pull it out from under the enormous shirt and hold it up, scrunching my nose. Disgusting! He takes it from me and smiles, gently placing it on my dress that’s laying on the floor in a heap. I watch him reach over to the nightstand, remove a couple of aspirins from a bottle then pick up a glass of water I didn’t know was there and holds them out to me. I look down at them and smile, taking them quickly from his hands. “I might need another glass. Or three.” He chuckles as I down the pills and chug the glass dry.
“There’s plenty more.” He takes the empty glass and stands, and I watch him walk out of the room. I lay down, feeling so sleepy that I can hardly keep my eyes open. Silence envelopes me. No snoring. No whimpering or howling. My eyes close and I welcome sleep, greedily.
I open my eyes, rub the sleep from them and shiver. Then, I look down.
“Oh, my God! I’m naked!”
I watch as Dreamboat slides into the room, and I quickly pull up the covers until they’re safely un
der my neck. He looks like he just woke up and as I scan down his body, I see that’s not all that woke up. His morning wood greets me against his boxers. “Put some pants on!” I scream, making him jump and walk quickly to the closet. His hand instantly covers his insanely hard cock. “I knew I shouldn’t have gone out. Damn Molly and her making me give in to my freaking promise.”
I keep rambling as he quickly gets dressed. He walks out and grabs a t-shirt from his dresser drawer, pulling it over his head, stops and grins. By then, with his t-shirt on, I’d pulled the sheet off his bed, wrapping it around my waist and even covering my feet. I’m uncomfortable as his eyes scan my body, showing me the bulge against his boxers, looking even larger than before. I take a step and start to fall, catching myself by my hand slapping against the wall.
“I need to….” I pull up on the sheet, stepping out until my feet appear. “I need to go.”
He lowers his head, and I can tell he’s trying not to laugh. Well, that’s nice. Laughing at me when I’m so uncomfortable and clearly out of my element. “You can go use the toothbrush from last night.” My eyes widen. “I cleaned it.” I let out a breath, my long hair blowing out. “I’ll go make a little breakfast for you then I’ll get you home. Deal?” He grins, showing that gorgeous dimple as I look up at him, a small smile creeps on my face as my stomach growls.
